When selecting a primary care doctor for yourself or your family, finding convenient, quality health care is key. At John Muir Health, we have over 280 primary care physicians (PCP’s) in the East Bay conveniently located close to your home or office throughout Contra Costa County and parts of Alameda and Solano counties. Our doctors work very closely with their patients to make sure their concerns are addressed and health care needs are met. Now is the time to choose a doctor who can do this for you.

Whether you want to switch doctors or to enroll in a new health plan, the steps may vary depending upon the health plan product you’ve selected. Following are some simple tips to help you choose John Muir Health.

Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), Health Savings Accounts (HSA)-eligible High Deductible Health Plan, and Point of Service (POS) products:

You can select any John Muir Health doctor. Simply follow these steps:

  1. Use our Find a Doctor tool to select the doctor that’s right for you. Search by name or specialty, and view video profiles.
  2. Call the doctor's office to confirm he is accepting new patients and belongs to the health plan you’ve chosen, and make your first appointment.
HMO Members:

When you choose an HMO plan, you must first select a medical group and then a primary care physician (PCP) from that medical group. The Health Plan Enrollment Resource Center will take you through a step-by-step process on how to sign up with a doctor in the John Muir Physician Network for most major HMO plans.

Switching to John Muir Health When You Already Have an HMO

If you're already enrolled in an HMO plan and wish to change your medical group to the John Muir Physician Network, simply call your health plan's customer service department at the number on the back of your health plan ID card and ask to be assigned to a doctor affiliated with John Muir Physician Network.
