MEET OUR TEAM OF NURSE NAVIGATORS
A cancer diagnosis marks the beginning of a dedicated plan for treatment and recovery. Partnering with you throughout your journey at John Muir Health is our team of cancer nurse navigators who will guide you and support you in making decisions.
WHAT WE DO
Cancer nurse navigators meet regularly with you and your family to review what to expect before, during and after treatments, and to provide ongoing emotional support. We’ll also help you and your family with any logistical help such as transportation or lodging. Sometimes we just hold your hand and tell you everything is going to be okay.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT
Sometimes the treatment of cancer is much like dealing with other medical conditions where there is a set treatment plan that works for most people, and a clear starting and ending point. Other times, the treatment of cancer is much more complex, and requires an individualized treatment plan and may not have a clear path to recovery. It’s always good to know more about the type of cancer you have and your options for treatment before you begin your journey. John Muir Health has a vast library of resources on cancer and its treatment available to patients and the public.

Shellie Campos
Nurse Navigator

Shellie received her Master’s Degree in Nursing and Family Nurse Practitioner Training from Vanderbilt University. She is also certified as an Advanced Genetics Nurse and a Family Nurse Practitioner. Shellie has been with the John Muir Health Cancer Institute since 2010, where her role is to provide Nurse Navigator and Nurse Practitioner services to patients in the High Risk Cancer Program and several John Muir Health special programs.
Lynn Rodegard
Nurse Navigator

Lynn received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing through the Samuel Merritt/Saint Mary's Intercollegiate Nursing Program. Lynn joined John Muir Health in 1996 as a floor nurse at the Concord campus oncology unit where she the Cancer Program’s research nurse focusing on oncology studies. While at John Muir Health, she also worked as a chemotherapy nurse in a private oncology clinic. Lynn later became the Thoracic Nurse Navigator in 2007 and now oversees the Lung Cancer Screening Program, Pulmonary Nodule Program, Urology Program, Lithotripsy Program, and is coordinator for the Apheresis Program at John Muir Health.
Vicki Rocconi
Nurse Navigator
M.S.N., R.N., C.C., O.C.N., C.B.C.N
Vicki received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Los Medanos College, and her Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of San Francisco. She holds certifications as a Clinical Nurse Leader through the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and as an Oncology Certified Nurse and Certified Breast Care Nurse through the Oncology Nursing Society. Vicki has worked for John Muir Health since 1989, and has specialized in oncology and breast care since 1993. She is currently the Nurse Navigator for Breast Health Services for John Muir Health.
Jill Rossi
Nurse Navigator
R.N.
Jill Rossi earned her LVN license in 1986 and her Associate’s Degree (RN) from New York State University in 1993. She began working at Mount Diablo Hospital in 1990, and has worked as a Nurse Navigator in Radiation Oncology at John Muir Health since 2004. Jill received her Radiation Therapy Certificate in 2012.
Shell Porter
Nurse Navigator
R.N., B.S.N,
Shell received Bachelor’s Degrees in Arts and Nursing from UCLA. Shell completed specialized training in post-treatment care and recovery of cancer patients through the City of Hope/National Cancer Institute, and has completed her teacher training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction through the University of Massachusetts Medical School/Center for Mindfulness, Healthcare, and Society. Shell has been with John Muir Health since 2009, and is the nurse navigator for the Gastrointestinal Oncology and Cancer Survivorship Programs.
Esper Hagberg
Nurse Navigator

Esper received her RN Degree from Los Medanos College. She also completed the Registered Nurse Transition Program at Los Medanos College, and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Grand Canyon University. Esper worked as a Pre-op and Recovery Nurse at Aspen Surgery Center for several years prior to her starting her position as Nurse Navigator in Radiation Oncology at John Muir Health this past year.
Darcel McClure

Darcel received her Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics from California State University at Chico. She is a certified Faith Community Nurse and currently works as a dedicated Nurse Navigator at John Muir Health.
Edward Octaviano
Nurse Navigator
R.N., B.S.N.
Edward received his Bachelor’s Degree and RN Degree from Quezon City Medical Center and Colleges, Philippines. He began his career as an Operating Room RN at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at University of Miami, and worked as a charge nurse at Davita Dialysis clinic in Miami, Florida. Edward has worked as a Nurse Navigator at John Muir Health since 2005. He earned his Radiation Therapy Certificate in 2012.
Carolyn Berson
Gynecological Oncology Nurse Navigator
R.N., B.S.N.
Ms. Berson received her RN Degree and Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from the intercollegiate program at Samuel Merritt University and Saint Mary’s College. She received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Hawaii. Ms. Berson has been part of the John Muir Health team since 2002.
Gail Santos-Silva
Nurse Navigator Supervisor
R.N.
Gail earned her RN Degree at Los Medanos College. She has Certification in Oncology Nursing and a certificate in Radiation Oncology Nursing. Gail had earned a Master’s Degree in Business prior to attending nursing school. She has been the Nurse Navigator Supervisor in Radiation Oncology at John Muir Health since 2007.
Cristina Yaughn
Nurse Navigator
R.N.
Cristina received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business in 1994 and her Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Los Medanos College. She began her career as an Oncology Nurse in 2009 and earned her Radiation Therapy Certificate in 2012. She has been a Nurse Navigator in Radiation Oncology at John Muir Health since 2012, and is currently studying for her Oncology Certification.
