(Walnut Creek, CA) – John Muir Health’s Concord and Walnut Creek Medical Centers have both been recognized on Newsweek’s list of the World’s Best Hospitals 2025. Rankings compare the best hospitals in 30 countries throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia. According to the data compiled, John Muir Health’s Concord Medical Center is ranked number 191, and the Walnut Creek Medical Center is ranked number 359 in the United States. This is the seventh straight year that both of John Muir Health’s medical centers have been ranked, every year the survey has been published.

A total of 2,445 hospitals were ranked for this seventh edition of the World’s Best Hospitals list. The United States has the most hospitals awarded, with 420. Rankings are based on comparing data from four primary categories: recommendations from medical experts, results from patient surveys, hospital quality metrics, and the Statista Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) survey.

“Earning recognition on the World’s Best Hospitals list is a testament to the amazing doctors, nurses, clinical and support staff, and volunteers at John Muir Health,” said Mike Thomas, John Muir Health’s president and CEO. “We are steadfastly committed to providing world-class health care close to home in our community.”

The countries compared for the 2025 list were selected based on multiple comparability factors, such as standard of living/life expectancy, population size, number of hospitals, and data availability. The number of hospitals awarded in each country varies based on the number of hospitals and data availability in the respective country.
