John Muir Health has a wide array of innovative approaches for the successful treatment of urological cancer – from minimally invasive surgical techniques to state-of-the-art radiation oncology, chemotherapy, biologic therapy, and hormonal treatment options.
We involve you in the decision-making process; you are a partner in your care.
We are very committed to getting you involved in understanding your treatment options and participating in the decision-making process. After you are diagnosed with urological cancer, you have access to a Nurse Navigator who is available to help you through your treatment and recovery process, making sure all your concerns are addressed.
Your managing physician has access to a multi-disciplinary cancer case conference (tumor board) where a team of medical experts review complex cases and make treatment recommendations. The expert panel consists of a urologist, medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, radiologist, and pathologist. Discuss with your physician whether this is an option for you.
When caught early, prostate cancer is highly treatable. Thanks to effective treatment options, men with prostate cancer are living longer, healthier lives with fewer treatment-related side effects.
Because prostate cancer is often a slow-growing cancer, we may discuss the possibility of putting you on “active surveillance” in which we would clinically follow the cancer with routine prostate-specific antigent (PSA) tests and biopsies before committing to any treatment options.
