For patients and their loved ones, illness and hospitalization often raise profound spiritual questions. Our professional chaplains know that these questions are a normal—even necessary—part of the healing process. They provide accompaniment and guidance to help individuals find their own answers.
Chaplains also help patients connect with local clergy and religious leaders as needed. In addition, Spiritual Care Services offers a full range of grief and bereavement support services, as well as a referral service to the area’s most comprehensive grief support programs.
Chaplains provide emergency-only on-call services 24 hours, 7 days a week. Regular referral hours are weekdays 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Please contact us at (925) 674-2629.
Located in the heart of John Muir Medical Center, Concord, the Meditation Center is a place where all who visit can feel welcomed to pray, meditate, reflect, cry, be silent, or perform other forms of spiritual practice. The center was created by a nationally recognized designer of sacred spaces and is open 24 hours a day.
Scriptures and printed materials from a variety of religious traditions are available. Visitors are also encouraged to write their thoughts and wishes in our book of prayer and reflection. It is our hope that those who visit the Meditation Center will find hope and peace in reading what others have written there.
