Spiritual Support
John Muir Health’s Spiritual Support staff offer support to patients, families and staff according to their needs and beliefs. They listen with respect and without judgment, offer comfort in times of distress and despair, journey with patients, families and staff through grief, loss and suffering and help patients, families and friends as they call upon their spiritual beliefs and traditions to help them in the healing process.
John Muir Health’s chaplains are clinically trained, ordained clergy who understand the special needs of those they serve. They provide intensive pastoral care, respond to referrals, trauma and all crisis calls, participate in interdisciplinary patient care rounds and physician/family conferences, conduct patient religious assessments, provide compassionate end-of-life spiritual care to patients and their families and conduct religious services. They are part of the John Muir Health patient care team.
