Vulnerable Populations Served by Family Medicine Residents

Unique to John Muir Health’s Family Medicine Residency Program is a dedicated vulnerable population’s track within its rotations. Curriculum for the John Muir Health Family Medicine Residents provides extensive, hands-on experience that allows the Residents to engage in meaningful, longitudinal community and population health training, advocacy and action.

John Muir Health’s Mobile Health Clinic, with 100% of its funding from John Muir Health donors, is one such way our Family Medicine Residents use their clinical knowledge and help close the health care disparity faced by our underserved communities.

The Mobile Health Clinic increases access to preventative and medical health care services for the low-income, uninsured and under-insured population of Contra Costa County. And, we are committed to leading, partnering, and collaborating with local nonprofits and community organizations on diverse programs that serve the wellbeing of our community.

And, with the addition of the 2022 Community Medicine and Global Health Fellowship, established by generous John Muir Health donors, Karen and Tom Mulvaney, the Mobile Health Clinic will also serve as the primary conduit for the fellows to address these populations through clinical and educational curriculum that encompasses physician leadership, teaching, and community engagement.
